Sunday evening ProBuild Lions will be in Sport Hall Zuid for their first game of the 2012-2013 regular season against CTO Amsterdam Women’s Basketball.
Last Saturday the Lions defeated Lekdetec 83-52 to win their first prize of the season, the Super Cup. ProBuild played an impressive game in front of their home crowd and showed what kind of team they are going to have this season.
The Lions showed that they are going to play fast, exciting and creative on the offensive end and active and smothering on the defensive end. “This is my favorite kind of basketball to play,” said Coach Laki Lakner after the game. “The last two seasons we had to play another way because of the type of players we had. Every team has a different way they have to play. Last season we had height and experience and this year we have a lot of speed and athleticism. And we score much easier. Our progression so far this season has exceeded expectations and at times we do things that I expected to be doing at the end of the season.”
CTO has had a lot of changes as well. The talent team is comprised of young players from all over Holland. These players come live in Amsterdam, go to school here and practice twice a day. Change is a very normal thing for a program like this. Young players are developed here and then sent on the play in first division teams in Holland and in other countries across Europe.
While CTO is made up of mostly 15-18 year olds, ProBuild has a type of talent team as well. The Lions have 6 players whom are 19 years or younger with 5 of these players playing a double competition with the first women’s team and the U20 team. Needless to say there will be a lot of youth on the court when these two teams faceoff.
The game is Sunday night at 8.00pm in the Sport Hal Zuid in Amsterdam.
