ProBuild Lions defeated De Wit Grasshoppers in the quarter finals of the NBB beker competitions last Wednesday.
Molly McDowell led the scoring with 22 points. Belinda Bos followed with 17 and Katie Bussey with 12.
For the Grasshoppers, Kinou Kanbier had 13, Fleur Kuijt and Birgitte Neuteboom had 10.
Katie Bussey scored two three pointers to start the game for the home team but it didn’t take long for the Grasshoppers to even the score at 6 apiece. After a three by Kinou Kanbier the visitors took a 12-13 lead but couldn’t hold it as the Loins took a 19-18 lead to end the first quarter.
The second quarter began with three pointers. The Grasshoppers hit 2 and Kim Hartman hit two for the Lions. Molly McDowell took over the quarter and gave a secure lead to the Lions. In the last seconds McDowell rebounded a ball and hit a shot from beyond half court to give ProBuild a 43-32 advantage.
During the third quarter the lead stayed around 11 points for the Lions but in the last two minutes of the quarter the home team was able to gain a 57-39 advantage going into the last quarter.
Two consecutive scores from Belinda Bos in the last quarter put the Lions lead at 62-43. The Wit-Grasshoppers were able to cut the lead to twelve points at the end of the game but the win was never really threatened. Final score 72-60
