Today the management of ProBuild Lions announced the signing of Katie Bussey, a 5-9 guard from Montana State University.
In het senior year Bussey scored 17.3 points per game and averaged 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assist. She earned a WBCA All American HM and is #2 Career Scorer for MSU with 1710 career points. Also, she is the Big Sky Conference career leader in three pointers, breaking the conference record held by Weber State’s Chelsey Warburton.
Interesting fact: Warburton also played for ProBuild Lions in the 2008-2009 season. Another interesting fact is that Katie Bussey is the second Montana State graduate signing with the Lions. In the 2005-2006 season another MSU standout made the journey from Bozeman to Amsterdam: Kati Burrows, who averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds during her stay in the Netherlands.
Head coach Laki Lakner said he believes Katie Bussey is exactly the kind of player he and his staff were looking for. “Katie is a exceptional good shooter, who can create opportunities for herself, but it looks like she’s also a good defender and has an allround game. With her at the 2-position and Molly McDowell at point guard I think we will have a really great guard-duo. We’re pretty excited about Katie signing with our team.”
Bussey had a conversation with assistent-coach Jesse Korf and talked with Molly McDowell before making her decision. “I’m excited to be joining the Lions”, she said. “I hope to be a great addition to the team”.
Katie Bussey is expected to arrive in Amsterdam around September 1st.
